First I want to say that this if my experience which feels like a necessary qualifier.
When I first started to exercise in any real way I wanted something I could do and enjoy. I had pretty much been through the ringer with diets at that point and a year before I lost 75 pounds only to gain it all back with interest.
So I was done with the reductive approach, at least for a while and wanted to get fit. So I started with hiking.
It only made sense that if I made it something miserable I wouldn’t do it. Within a very short period of time I was down about 30 pounds eating pretty much the same way I did before I started to exercise regularly.
I literally talk about the next stage all of the time so I want to stay focused on this point because this point matters a lot for a lot of people that aren’t active.
For about the next 3 months I didn’t lose any weight but I had the good sense to realize that I felt better, I looked better and I was doing something I loved.
I also didn’t live in fear that every time I had sex with my wife I was going to die anymore.
Which was a big relief to her also.
For most of my adult life I was unfit and now, by most standards, I was fit.
Because I was doing something I loved I didn’t need to have an “ultimatum” WHY to keep me motivated. I mean who wouldn’t be motivated, if you have the time, to go out in nature for a few hours.
To say it was life changing is an understatement.
What I realized through all that time alone is that I had it backwards. For the ten years previous whenever things would get really bad I would take away food and for the most part, not be all that active in that process. In fact, the more food I took away the less I wanted to be active. It was a negative spiral that fed on it itself.
But here is what the ability to manage my weight did for me. It allowed me to make better and less drastic choices. After 3 months I made some small changes that were well planned out and for the very first time I felt in charge of my health.
We are probably the only diet program that is going to say this to you because it technically hurts our business.
START WITH FITNESS!
Fitness adds abundance to the equation and gives you more control. Note that I am not saying extreme fitness and I am also not talking about OPTIMAL body composition.
I am simply saying that FITNESS is the easier path to health.
Doesn’t mean you never eat less but here is another thing that most people trying to lose weight without exercise don’t know.
The science clearly shows that people that are ACTIVE maintain weight loss better than people that aren’t.
So the war on food needs to stop, food is actually an ally because the more energy you have the more amazing things you can do.
And, oh by the way, yes, the 30 pounds I lost was motivating and probably did keep me going and not all of you will experience that and it will make it harder to stay on that path.
This is where you have to notice the signs of a better life and I am not saying you will never eat less again, at the end of the day I own a sustainable diet company. So eating less occasionally is needed.
That said, what I am describing makes you ACTIVE and gives you more control rather than REACTIVE.
REACTIVE people often experience a lot of misery along the way because they aren’t ready for the task they are about to undertake.
So start with being ACTIVE, eventually add in a plan that you can execute and if you need help let us know but every single person reading this can start their path to fitness in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 by simply walking around the block.
If you haven’t tried fitness that you love first give it a shot and if you need further help down the line hit the link below.

Even the programs that reverse don’t do a good job because they cave to the fear of their clients or they let AI (artificial intelligence) do the work.
